Elen Bezhen 'Botanica Humana'

MLVA Art Gallery, Hoornstraat 11, 9000 Gent

Wed & Thu 12:30 – 16:30 and Fri & Sat: 11:00 – 18:00

Elen Bezhen is a painter working in the field of figurative art, exploring the subtle connections between nature and the human experience, with a particular focus on the feminine image. Originally from the North Caucasus, she developed an early fascination with botany and entomology, which shaped her deep perception of nature as a living and sacred space.

Her education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow and later at the Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia enabled her to merge academic technique with a contemporary artistic approach. Inspired by the masters of the Northern Renaissance, Elen has developed a visual language in which traditional painting methods gain new relevance.

Her works are veiled self-portraits, where nature becomes a mirror of inner states and a way to reimagine the relationship between humans and the surrounding world.

Elen Bezhen currently lives and works in France.

Elen Bezhen will have a solo show at MLVA Art Gallery from September 20th until October 11th.
