The Ghent Film Week is often referred to as Europe's most obscure film festival. An island oasis for art amidst a sea of commercialism. Sure, it's modest in form, as we mainly focus on screening films and less on the glitter and glamour. The festival focuses on contemporary cinema and video art and places its films where they belong – within the vibrant context of other art forms.

Staircase Stomp by The Clamor  (United States) by Aaron Louis

Stop-motion music video for the song "Staircase Stomp" by punk/new wave band The Clamor. The music video tells the story of a man grappling with his inner turmoil, represented by a haunting female figure in a storm-battered cabin. Through surreal stop-motion animation, the video explores themes of identity, psychological conflict, and self-reconciliation, blurring the lines between external chaos and internal struggles.

Dead, White and Blue (United States) by Mike Davis

A "green movie" made of recycled footage from over 300 stock and public domain films with a brand new storyline and dialogue. A rogue FBI agent teams up with the United States Army to defeat the KKK, who have invaded to body of an innocent black man killed by a racist cop.

In an attempt to go mainstream, the KKK has modernized and gone high tech with flashy new promo videos, clothing, and an evil plot to plunge the country into a race war with the help of a shrink ray created by their top scientists. After a a policeman shoots an innocent black man, he enlists the Klan to help him elude justice by retrieving the incriminating bullet. FBI agent Kwame Blackstone gets wind of the plan and enlists the army to help him put a stop to the evil organization for good. But with sophisticated new weaponry and the wind in their sheets, they will not go down without a fight. An over the top comedic political satire featuring a cast of thousands and the best government-produced film footage money can't buy!
