An intimate exploration of nature, up close and personal, where natural textures transform into miniature landscapes. From sun-dappled forest roads, with sunlight filtering through the trees, to detailed close-ups capturing the elaborate scenes of a garden in bloom. Dancing flowers and rustling leaves, brought to life in indian ink and watercolour.
“I wanted to create the garden that I never had. A chance to escape the concrete city jungle and to surround myself with nature. By capturing the vegetation in specific stages of their bloom, I want to make the beauty of different seasons last forever. I have selected plants that I would want to choose for my own garden.”
Immerse yourself in a sensory journey through the beauty that surrounds us, but often goes unnoticed. Glimpse into the hidden intricacies and vibrant textures of the natural world.
“Painting with Indian ink is a search for light, or actually it is all about preserving the light. I build the image with black ink on white paper, painting the shadows and depth, leaving the light untouched. A fine balance between creating enough depth, but not doing too much. With the light simply being the naked paper in its natural white colour, there is no room for correction. Once the light is lost, it can not be brought back.”
