“In the act of painting I’m trying to create an own sense of time and space, in which an image can subsist. I’m guided by the work itself, discovering and exploring while painting, until I come to a turning point, in which the layers of paint come together and result in a certain reality. A reality that is vaguely recognizable but cannot be unambiguously identified as such.”

In "The Silent Trail" Francis Bekaert introduces the viewer to a new series of landscape works that reveal a play of light and shadow through carefully layered paint strokes. The paintings take you to a place where silence dominates, without human presence or traces of the modern world. Bekaert's painting process is an intense search for balance, with each layer of paint adding a new dimension to his work. His brushstrokes are both spontaneous and thoughtful, creating an intimate dialogue between the artist and the canvas. Bekaert's patient and dedicated approach reveals the complexity of the landscape, playing with texture and color to create an almost tangible atmosphere. The layers in his work reflect not only a physical depth, but also an emotional world, which invites the viewer to look deeper and discover the silent, changing beauty of nature.

Born in Tielt (1980), works and lives in Ghent, Belgium
